Undermount Sinks: Sleek, Seamless, and Functional Solutions for Your Kitchen and Bathroom

Considering an undermount sink for your kitchen or bathroom? Here’s a glimpse at what you should know.

The Highlights

Undermount kitchen sinks have many advantages. Since they don’t rest on the countertop, they offer a streamlined, modern look. There is also no rim to catch dirt, so these low-maintenance sinks are easy to clean.

Sink Style

At Vintage Tub & Bath, we offer our customers choices for undermount kitchen stinks. You can choose from a drop-in or undermount kitchen sink. Drop-in sinks aren’t as deep — usually around six inches. Undermount sinks are generally eight or nine inches deep.

Sink Width

Undermount kitchen sinks come in varying sizes. However, the standard size is approximately 30 inches. At Vintage Tub & Bath, you can choose from the following sizes:

  • 10–15 inches

  • 16–20 inches

  • 21–25 inches

  • 26–30 inches

  • 21–40 inches

  • 51–60 inches

What size you choose depends on your plans for your new sink.

Number of Basins

The average undermount kitchen sink has a single basin. However, you may opt for a double basin if you want more room to keep things separate. Undermount kitchen sinks with two basins are larger and require more space.

Faucet Centers

A faucet center is the space between the center of the left and right pre-drilled holes in undermount kitchen sinks. Knowing this measurement ensures a proper faucet installation. These measurements can range anywhere from 4 to 16 inches.

Basin Split

Basin split refers to how much space each basin of a double-basin sink takes up. Typically, the basins are equal in size, but sometimes, one side is larger.

Materials

Like many other sinks, undermount kitchen sinks are available in multiple materials. Vintage Tub & Bath provides customers with the following options:

  • Copper

  • Fireclay

  • Granite

  • Porcelain enamel

  • Stainless steel

No matter what material you choose, each of these options will be strong enough to hold the fixture in place.

Installation Type

The two types we recommend at Vintage Tub & Bath are drop-in and undermount sinks. Undermount kitchen sinks are mounted from below the countertop. This method hides the rim, creating a seamless appearance.

Drain Location

The drain of undermount kitchen sinks can be located in the center, rear, or rear center. Center drains are dependable and practical. They provide quick drainage and easy maintenance access, but rear drains offer more seamless drainage and additional storage space. Off-center drains allow more usable space in the basin.

Finish

The finish of your sink influences the overall look you create in your kitchen. You can choose from glossy or matte finishes in several colors, ensuring your sink matches your existing style. Stainless steel offers a modern look with easy maintenance, while a solid white finish creates an inviting space.

Brands

At Vintage Tub & Bath, we want to offer our customers the best products available. To do so, we carry the following brands of undermount kitchen sinks:

  • Randolph Morris

  • Bootz

  • Sierra Copper

  • Swan

  • Thompson Traders

  • Whitehaus Collection

These durable brands are time-tested and have proven to be long-lasting.

Price

No two jobs are the same, so the final price for installing your undermount kitchen sink will vary from previous jobs with a similar fixture. However, they’re not typically any more expensive than traditional sinks. Discussing your project with one of our specialists will help narrow down the expected costs.

Create a Seamless Look for Your Kitchen

Installing a new kitchen sink can be a fun and exciting project. Don’t let your many options get the best of you. Instead, contact Vintage Tub & Bath to speak with one of our undermount kitchen sink specialists!
