Showers

Your shower is a crucial part of your home that not only functions as a tool for cleanliness and personal hygiene, but also for setting apart a space to relax and rejuvenate.

The right shower doors will complement your shower to adorn this practical and functional space with aesthetic appeal. Whether you like the classic charm of exposed pipe showers or the sleek sophistication of rain fall showers, we’re confident that Vintage Tub & Bath’s vast and diverse selection will meet your needs.

Measurement Guide

Before designing and selecting your perfect shower accessories, you must accurately measure your shower using a comprehensive measuring guide. Even the slightest inaccuracy can have detrimental effects, so take this step seriously!

First, Do You Have a Corner Shower or Alcove Shower?

There are two basic types of showers. The first step in choosing your shower door is determining whether you have a corner shower or an alcove shower.

Corner showers have three glass panes, while alcove showers are surrounded on three sides by walls.

Second, What Type of Door Are You Looking For?

Next, determine what type of shower door you’re looking for. Some options include:

  • Classic Shower Doors: These full doors can either slide or swing open
  • Bathtub Shower Doors: Glass panels designed to fit onto dual tub/shower systems
  • Buttress Shower Doors: Doors for showers that have a buttress wall, sometimes called a knee wall, where stationary glass panels rest higher than the shower door panel

The type of shower you have and the type of door you’re looking for will affect what measurements you need to take.

General Measurements

General measurements you’ll take include:

  • Measuring the Width: Measure horizontally across the shower base, or the area from one wall to another. Measure at both the top and the bottom.
  • Measure the Height: Measure from the base to the top of the wall or shower space. If you’re installing the shower door onto a bathtub, then you’ll measure from the tub’s top edge rather than the base of the wall itself.
  • Measure Opening Depth: Measure the width of the wall adjacent to the door to understand the opening depth. For shower doors that open inward, you will need to know how much room you’re dealing with.
  • Account for Accessories, Fixtures, and Obstructions: Always consider anything that might get in the way, like shower heads, windows, faucets, or other elements you may have in your shower area.

You may need to account for variations if you have uneven walls.
