Benjamin Franklin and the Bathtub

Among the invention of Bifocals, the Odometer, and the Armonica, Benjamin Franklin is also credited for bringing the first bathtub to America. The bathtub he brought from France is said to have been constructed of copper. The tub, which was shaped like a shoe, did not have a faucet but filled by hand with water from another source. Since he is an inventor, Ben Franklin studied the tub and then made his own improvements. It is also said that he spent much time reading and writing while in the bathtub.

The oldest bathtub is said to have existed in the Minoan city of Greece. The five-foot bathtub may have belonged to the Queen and also had no faucet or drain.
