More Bad Patina
Oil-rubbed bronze patina is everywhere right now, but this is the worst I've ever seen. Instead of carefully buffing the highlights up, the makers used an aggressive abrasive on four of the five pieces I ordered, leaving deep scratches over all. The concept of oil-rubbed bronze was completely lost on whoever made these. Also, one of the five pieces had only half as many hammer marks as the others, and looked more like leopard spots rather than the hand-wrought appearance in the photo. I ordered two single switch plates, two 2-hole outlet covers, and one double switch plate. Made in Mexico. Rather than return them I refinished them myself with steel wool, a lot of elbow grease and antique bronze patina I found at a copper roofing supply store.
