Instructions are too complicated The seat itself seems fine, although someone light. However, I found instructions so overwhelming (compared to the Bemis seat which I bought at the same time, for comparison), that I'm returning the American Standard and keeping the Bemis. Bemis printed instructions are worse than horrible; however, they have a very clear YouTube video installation guide. Too bad American Standard -- long a recognized and trust brand name for sinks and toilets -- didn't provide an online video installation tutorial as well. October 5, 2014
Design I love the slow close feature, but the finish is easily scratched and the seat is the most uncomfortable toilet seat I've ever sat on.  It's cut slimmer in the back, and doesn't match the shape of the Champion 4 toilet - I'm wondering if they made it the same shape as the toilet if it would be more comfortable.  August 23, 2014
Works Great But Purchased two slow close seats for our new Champion Pro series toilets. Had slow close seats before and felt they were worth the cost. The new seats are half the quality of our old seats; they work well but are pretty flimsy. I was disappointed with the quality of the product in comparison of the old ones. I hope they will hold up as well as the old ones, time will tell if they will or not. June 30, 2013
Champion Slow Close Elongated Toilet Received the product in perfect shape. It works perfectly and was simple to install. The only dissatisfaction is with Vintage. It took over 4 wks to receive it, and customer support was very inefficient, provided wrong information and really did not seam to care about customer satisfaction. March 15, 2013
Toilet seat My clients called this the Gater Lid becouse it closes like a gator. They love it. May 31, 2012
The only seat to buy. I love this seat and will end up puingt them on all my toilets. Worth 10 times what I paid for it. May 31, 2012
Don't drop the lid--no longer a problem I ordered this soft or slow close lid hoping it would work with our Cadet III water sense American Standard 1.2 gallon flush toilet. Oh, it fit, and it worked, and it performed just as they said it would. I give it a 5 on performance. However, I'd really like for it to have a little more substantial seat to go with that great lid. It sometimes feel I'm sitting on the cold porcelain of the john itself, which is sort of disconcerting. It features a sanitary finish, so germs are supposed to be dead on arrival, which is another great feature of anything to do with a toilet. Yes, I'd recommend this seat for anyone with the Cadet III unless they were looking for a highly stylish seat that looked great, like in a guest lavatory. I'm sorry to say that it has a bit of a cookie cutter look to it, stamped out of plastic, and not an upscale product at all. So depending on whether you want fancy or functional, this comes recommended for functional. It does not slam down on the occasions when dear hubby goes to the john in the dark, either the seat or the lid both close soft and smooth. I'm glad I chose to buy it from Vintage Tub, since I found more information available to make my choice reading product descriptions here than at the local big box store that sells them too.
