Shower Enclosure Buying Guide

Vintage Tub & Bath offers three different shower enclosures: wall-mounted, deck/rim mounted and free standing. Below you will find a description of each kind of shower enclosure. Please note Shower Enclosures for Double Ended & Double Slipper Tubs are designed with different enclosure rings, support fittings and shower riser projections; make sure you order the SIDE MOUNT Shower Enclosures for these applications.

Wall-mounted

Wall-mounted shower enclosures are mounted to the wall of the tub. Most of our enclosures come complete with a tub faucet, riser pipe, shower head, shower ring, ceiling and wall supports; like Strom Plumbing. Generally the faucets included with these enclosures mount at the END of the tub wall on 3 3/8" centers. If your tub has faucet holes wider than 3 3/8", check out this model which comes with adjustable centers from 3" to 12".

Deck-mounted

Deck-mounted shower enclosures are mounted to the rim of the tub. Most of our enclosures come complete with a tub faucet, riser pipe, shower head, shower ring, ceiling and wall supports; like Strom Plumbing. Generally the faucets included with these enclosures mount to the rim of your tub on 3 3/8", 7" or 8" centers. If your tub has faucet holes that do not match these measurements, check out this model which comes with adjustable centers from 3 3/8" to 9 3/8".

Please note there are two different configurations of shower enclosures: END MOUNT AND SIDE MOUNT.

END MOUNT Shower Enclosures are used with Tub Wall Drillings located at the end of the tub. It is an important difference between an END MOUNT Shower Enclosure and a SIDE MOUNT Shower Enclosure.

SIDE MOUNT Enclosures must be used with the Double Ended & Double Slipper Models because the fixtures have to be mounted on the side in the middle of the tub rim so they come with a differently configured enclosure ring, support fittings and shower riser projection.

Free Standing

If your tub does not have any faucet holes, choose one of our free standing enclosures. With the exception of the some items like the Sunrise Specialty (item # s438c) enclosure, our free standing enclosures come as a complete set including: tub faucet, supply lines, drain, riser, enclosure ring, supports and shower head. The only necessary item to complete the Sunrise enclosure is a drain; everything else is included.

The Freestanding Shower Enclosures offered come with enclosure rings typically used with an END MOUNT application.
