Thing of Beauty
I purchased this tub for a renovation/addition project. My wife has always wanted a clawfoot tub and this is the one she chose for her new bathroom and it is, indeed, gorgeous!
PROS: Well made and well finished. CONS: For the Tub itself, absolutely none! It is beautiful. The shipping crate leaves a lot to be desired. I had to refuse the first one as the crate was basically destroyed in transit. It was barely hanging on to the tub and the exposed screws had significantly scratched the rolled edge of the tub.
The second one was intact but there was still a slight chip on the rim from one of the long screws that missed it mark during crating and chipped the back edge of the lip. I decided I could live with it as a touch up will make it invisible plus it is on the back side in our installation and would be difficult to see. RECOMMENDATIONS: The shipping crate needs improvement. Quarter inch ply and 1x2 furring strips are not up to the task of containing this tub safely to it's destination. Also the rim needs better protection from harm during shipment. A layer of particle board with a styrofoam pad would do wonders. I would hav gladly paid $50 more for a better crate and I'd have a perfect tub (the first time around). I think shipping departments that do a lot of business via FEDEX and UPS fail to understand the different world truck shipping is. It's pretty rough and tumble and a shipping crate has to be up to the job.
