Design Element 60 inch Dbl Sink Vanity
I saw a gorgeous green glasstopped sink at Lowe's but the cabinet was pitifully poor in comparison. I went on line looking for single and double sinks with a similar top but a high quality vanity. I found several styles at several sites but Vintage Tub & Bath gave me the best deal - beating other sites lowest price then giving me an added discount and free shipping (which was a huge savings as I bought two vanities and the double one included a huge mirror). I ordered by phone so I could ask questions and the person who helped me was excellent, friendly and made the transaction very easy. Everything arrived so quickly (in less than 2 weeks!) and was packaged very well. I had to open everything while the truck waited because I wanted to be sure the glass tops and mirror arrived in one piece - and they did. Everything was perfect. Due to a lengthy remodel, the master bath was done last, actually 2 months after purchase but it went well. My contractor helped my husband with the installation and our plumber did his part so basically it was a professional install. The cabinet is gorgeous and looks like furniture which was important as there is no door on that part of the bathroom and is visible from the bedroom. The glass top is a milky light green, not as translucent as I expected. The faucets are cool looking, but a little tricky to get used to and when lots of water is running they are kind of loud. The pop up drain is a novelty. This unit comes with a 4 inch high back-splash which doesn't show in the photos on the website. It is a nice addition as it is needed to protect the wall. The main negative is that the shelves under each sink are preset in a permanent location - the board comes out but the supports don't so fix the point where the shelf rests. We couldn't use the shelves because the pipes and the trap were too close to the shelf on one side, and completely in the way on the other. (The pipes take up a lot of the space under each cabinet). I bought some metal shelf stands at BedBathBeyond and they work okay. The glass panels on the doors do show what is inside the cabinets which some may find annoying. On the single vanity I used in my half bath I painted the inside of the glass and it really worked well. I haven't done that for the master yet - I had the plumber use black pipes instead of white which helped a lot - now just the contents show if too close to the glass. The mirror is very substantial and fills the space well. We didn't use the small shelf that attaches to the bottom because our ceiling was too low to put the mirror high enough to be out of the way of the backsplash and faucets, but it looks great without it. The three drawers don't go very far back so they don't hold as much as I would have liked. The glass is easy to clean with a quick wipe. There was a tiny gap along the edge of the glass top from the wood border on each side. I filled that with a clear bead of silicon which keeps dust and dirt from getting in that tiny gap. We are pleased with the end result and would recommend the product.
