Paint Chips in the Exterior Paint
Here is how you can easily repair minor paint scratches and chips in your clawfoot tub paint.
To repair paint chips:
Clean the affected area with a rag to remove any dust or paint fragments.
Next, carefully apply the touch-up paint. For best results, apply the paint in multiple, thin layers and avoid getting the paint outside of the damaged area. Taking your time here will reduce or eliminate the need to remove excess paint later.
After the paint has had enough time to dry (usually 24-48 hours), check to see if you need to remove any excess paint. If this is the case, you can either carefully sand the excess paint off with 1500 grit sandpaper or VERY CAREFULLY use a single blade razor to scrape off the excess paint.
When using a razor, try to get it parallel to the tub and use a gentle touch.
You can also watch a video (running time: 0:54) explaining how to repair chips in the exterior paint of your clawfoot tub.
