Eljer Two-Piece, Corner Toilets, and Toilet Seats

In 1904, Eljer, Inc. was founded in Oakland, California by Raymond ELmer Crane and cousin, Oscar JERome Backus and named through the combination of their middle names. Eljer originally manufactured flush valves, but after the move cross country to Newark, New Jersey and then on to Cameron, West Virginia where the first vitreous china tank was developed. Copper-lined wood tanks were the fad prior to the introduction of the china tank. Today, Eljer Plumbingware's vitreous china facility in Ford City, Pennsylvania is one of the largest and most modern of its kind world-wide.
