Cast Iron Bathtubs
The porcelain surface on a cast iron claw foot tub is harder and more scratch-resistant than an acrylic tubs. Cast iron claw foot tubs also have a more substantial “feel” and “sound” to them than do lighter acrylics. Iron bath tubs tend to appear more historically authentic to the eye than do acrylic claw foot tubs. A disadvantage is that once you scratch or otherwise damage the porcelain in a cast iron tub it will be a permanent blemish.
