Acrylic Tubs

Acrylic Tubs are similar to cast iron tubs with out the weight. They are made in the same styles Classic, Slipper, and Double Ended models as cast iron tubs. They are also offered in similar to sizes. The acrylic tubs hold the heat of the water longer. Customers sometimes don’t purchase acrylic tubs because they think they are not going to be as strong as the cast iron tubs. But, our acrylic tubs are made out of acryl which is a synthetic glassy thermoplastic that can be molded and cast into such items as bath tubs. There are various manufacturers of acrylic clawfoot tubs. We sell are American Bath Factory, Restoria and Elizabethan Classic Acrylic tubs.

American Bath Factory acrylic tubs are very durable. They are crafted from two ¼’ sheets of high cast acrylic bonded together with a patented crushed stone/resin compound called acrastone to give the tubs thickness, strength and weight. These tubs are so durable that they say you can hit them with a hammer and they won’t shatter.

Restoria acrylic clawfoot tubs have an exterior acrylic shell that features texture and character marks which are slightly unique. This feature can not be duplicated by assembly lines. Each shell is vacuum-sealed to its hand crafted mold, ensuring interior depth and shape consistency. During the exterior hand crafting process, a steel plate is incorporated in the bottom of each unit which is accomplished by their patent pending process for extra rigidity and horizontal stability. This is the only acrylic tub with this feature. It has unparalleled strength. It was tested with over 1,100 pounds of pressure. The tub shows virtually no give.

Elizabethan Classics Acrylic tubs are made out of two acrylic sheets 3/16” thick. Inside of the two sheets is a filler material called gusso. Gusso is similar to American Bath Factory’s acrastone. The acrylic interior is backed with fiberglass.
